Flat Stanley
Stanley stands by some Sugarcane stems. Sugar is extracted from the cane to produce brown sugar or granulated sugar which is used to sweeten drinks and foodstuff. The Sugarcane plant was transplanted to Trinidad during the era of slavery. Africans were brought to Trinidad and Tobago as well as other Caribbean islands and the Americas to work as slaves so that the cups of tea and juices in Europe were sweetened. Stanley understands now that the sweet in his food and drink has a bitter history.
